It doesn't always arrive as a Google Maps link. Sometimes it's a street address in a text message, an address in an email, a venue name in a calendar invite, or a pin someone dropped in a chat. Retyping any of those into your Tesla's touchscreen — especially the long or oddly-spelled ones — is exactly the kind of fiddly job you don't want before a drive.
Send it from your phone instead. Whatever form the address is in, if you can turn it into a link on your phone, you can push that link to the car screen.
Send an address to your Tesla in 4 steps
1. Get a shareable link on your phone.
If the address came as a Maps pin, use Share and copy the link. If it came as plain text, paste the address into your phone's Maps app, open the place, and copy its share link. Either way, you now have a link your phone can send.
2. Open the receiver page in your car.
While parked, open your Tesla's browser and go to pushtocar.com/car. The screen shows a QR code and a short pairing code.
3. Scan the code and paste the link.
Point your phone camera at the QR code to open your private sender page — no app, no account — then paste the link and hit send.
4. Open it in the car.
Your Tesla shows the link card with a preview. Tap "Open link" and the destination loads in the car's browser, ready to hand off to navigation.
The pairing lasts one hour, so if you're planning several stops, you can push one address after another without re-pairing.
How is this different from sending a Google Maps destination?
Same tool, different starting point. The Google Maps guide covers the case where you already have a Maps link. This guide covers the messier real-world case: an address buried in a message, an email, or a calendar invite. If you already have a Maps link, either guide gets you there.
For Maps-share links specifically, send a Google Maps destination to your Tesla.
FAQ
Does the link open in Tesla navigation directly?
The link opens in the Tesla browser, which shows the destination with its address — from there you navigate to it.
Does this work with Apple Maps or Waze?
Yes. Any shareable map link works — Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze, or plain coordinates.
Is it free?
Yes — free for every driver, supported by donations.
Do I need an app or an account?
Neither. Your car's browser and your phone's browser are all it takes.
